Antiche Volte owes its name to the beautiful frescoed vaulted ceilings taller than 5 feet that adorn the guest rooms along with original antique flooring. The structure occupies the first floor of an aristocratic palace of the early ‘900s, recently renovated.
History of Catania:
Sicily’s second city by population, Catania namesake flat stretches between the Ionian Sea and Mount Etna. The surrounding countryside, made more fertile by the volcanic eruptions, is cultivated, for the most part, citrus gardens. The close link of the city with the volcano is also visible in the buildings, many of them built with lava stone.
